Sport

Sport is a very important part of school life here in the CBS. We try to ensure that the boys get to experience a wide variety of sports and activities with the emphasis on participation and enjoyment.

We have access fantastic sports facilities on our campus that is shared with St Joseph's CBS next door. These include a GP room, large hall with basketball nets, 400m outdoor running track and a selection of playing fields. Throughout the year, the boys also get the opportunity to experience the facilities available at sports clubs in the town including Nenagh Swimming pool which is across the road, the soccer pitches at Nenagh AFC Brickfields, indoor track at Nenagh Olympic Athletic Club, Nenagh Rugby Club and Éire Óg GAA grounds.

Hurling

Every class participates in a weekly hurling class with hurling coaches from the local club, Nenagh Éire Óg. This will be indoor or outdoor depending on the weather. Every child needs his own helmet. These can be purchased from the school or in sports shops.

Our school takes part in the Tipperary Cumannn na mBunscol U'11 & U'13 hurling championships every year. Hurling training takes place after school and at lunchtime.

Sports Day

The school holds a sports day at the end of the Summer term.

Sports day 2015 was a great success. In the morning, each class rotated to a different sport every forty minutes including soccer, tag rugby, hurling, volleyball, Spike Ball, hockey and the novelty activities.  After lunch, we up an ass set up an assault course on the running track while other other classes took penalty kicks on their teachers or tried the long puck or tug of war. An assembly was held in the evening where each child was presented with a medal.
