Week 19 - Green Flag III (Water) Action Day

Our Green-Schools Committee have been working very hard over the past 2 years on maintaining our Litter, Waste and Energy flags. We are currently working hard on the successful implementation of the Green-Schools Seven Step programme in relation to Water. It is very relevant considering the new water charges that the Government has imposed.
Following a two week awareness campaign, today we held a very successful Action Day. Every class took part by wearing something blue on the day to represent our Water theme. In the morning, each class was very busy carrying out Water-based experiments, watching and discussing You-Tube clips and water web-sites. In the afternoon, we invited all the parents to our “Young Scientist”-style Water exhibit in our GP Room and each class held a table quiz. All agreed that the day was a success.
We now look forward to our assessment day with Sean Hartigan from An Taisce next week. Next month , we will be hosting our very own X Factor-style competition to choose our Green-Schools code. We will email our Application Form to Head Office in March so watch out for our flag raising ceremony in the near future!!!!
